The Bois est un groupe de " Oi ! " un style proche du Punk mais jouรฉ par et pour les skinheads. Le clichรฉ du nรฉo-nazi violent reste bien ancrรฉ dans la sociรฉtรฉ et dans les mรฉdias mais pourtant les skinheads ne se rรฉsument pas ร cette caricature. Cโest mรชme carrรฉment lโopposรฉ dont il sโagit.
Le mouvement skinhead est nรฉ en Angleterre dโun mรฉtissage entre de jeunes blancs prolรฉtaires et de jeunes immigrรฉs jamaรฏcains ร la fin des annรฉes 60. Les musiques jamaรฏcaines de l'รฉpoque, reggae et ska ont รฉtรฉ un รฉlรฉment fรฉdรฉrateur indรฉniable.

Le label Trojan records sera sans conteste la rรฉfรฉrence majeure pour ces jeunes au crรขne rasรฉ, vรชtus de chemise Ben Sherman ou de polo Fred Perry et chaussรฉs de Doc. Martens. Fans invรฉtรฉrรฉs de football (mais aussi de baston aux alentours des stades), le club de Chelsea, par exemple, ร toujours comme "hymne" dans son stade la chanson "The Liquidator" de Harry J Allstars, un hit "skinhead reggae" de Trojan Records datant de 1969โฆ
La vague suivante de reggae, au dรฉbut des annรฉes 70, รฉloigna les skinheads de ce style musical car il รฉtait beaucoup plus imprรฉgnรฉ de mystique rasta.
Au milieu des annรฉes 70, le punk dรฉbarque ainsi quโune certaine forme de politisation de la musique. Le "Rock Against Racism" (RAR) est un festival qui rรฉunit en 1978 des groupes tels que The Clash, Sham 69, Steel Pulse,โฆ La "Oi !" apparaรฎt dans cette mรชme pรฉriode, dans la foulรฉe du punk.
Au dรฉbut des annรฉes 80, avec la crise et la montรฉe de lโextrรชme droite britannique, la mouvance skinhead va รชtre en partie rรฉcupรฉrรฉe. Lโamalgame "skinhead = nรฉo-nazi" date de cette pรฉriode. Les skinheads restรฉs fidรจles aux origines du mouvement appellent les nazi-skins : "boneheads". Pour les exclure du terme "skinhead".
Le mouvement SHARP pour "Skinhead Against Racial Prejudice" fait son apparition ร la fin annรฉes 80 en rรฉaction ร cette "usurpation dโidentitรฉ". Roddy Moreno, chanteur du groupe oi ! antifasciste The Oppressed popularisera ce mouvement en Europe. Le symbole des skins SHARP sโinspire du logo de TROJAN records. Il illustre le lien originel entre la Jamaรฏque et les skinheads.
