The inspiration behind this video:
Since Mortal Kombat was released in 2021, there hasn’t been much in the way of sequel news. The latest Mortal Kombat 2 movie updates, however, are exciting because it means it’s only a matter of time before the film hits theaters. The movie is extremely close to production, as Mortal Kombat 2 is expected to shoot in Summer. Producer Todd Garner confirmed that he’s headed to Australia to begin preparations for filming. Filming for Mortal Kombat 2 will begin in June, and if it follows the same timetable as the first movie, it could be completed in September or October. However, the movie will then head into post-production and have plenty of VFX work to get through, so it will still be a little while before fans get to see it.
In other Mortal Kombat 2 movie updates, producers and the studio have also settled on a location, as the movie will be shot in Australia. The location is interesting for a couple of reasons. Warner Bros. might have chosen to film in Australia due to tax cuts, which is generally why studios shoot outside of Los Angeles, it could also mean the return of Kano (Josh Lawson). Kano, the sarcastic and vulgar Aussie mercenary, was arguably the best thing about the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, and his return isn't certain given that he was stabbed in the eye with a garden gnome's hat. However, the reason for the Australian shoot could be for a number of logistical reasons, and given that the 2021 movie was shot in Australia too, Kano's return still isn't guaranteed.
