The momentous occasion is nearly upon us as Volkswagen prepares to unveil the next iteration of its beloved Tiguan, which has graced our roads for nearly seven years. The time has come to bid farewell to the current model and welcome its successor with open arms. While we eagerly await the world premiere later this year, the automaker has tantalized us with a series of teasers, giving us a glimpse into what the future holds for this compact crossover. Thankfully, our friends at Kolesa have taken it upon themselves to craft some renderings that offer a possible glimpse into the design of the new SUV.

Arriving in the European market during the first quarter of 2024, the third-generation Tiguan will be constructed upon the upgraded MQB Evo platform, an improvement over its existing architecture. Although we haven't been treated to comprehensive interior images just yet, we have garnered some valuable insights into the technological marvels that will grace this vehicle. The base variants of the Tiguan will be equipped with a generous 12.9-inch infotainment system, while their higher-end counterparts will boast an even more expansive 15-inch display. Notably, the accompanying photos provide a telling glimpse into the evolution of the touchscreen design, which has taken on the appearance of a standalone tablet, diverging from its integration into the center console.

As for the powertrain options that Volkswagen will bestow upon the new Tiguan, the automaker has chosen to keep us guessing. However, they have graciously disclosed that the third-generation model will continue to offer a variety of choices, including gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid drivetrains. Particularly captivating is the plug-in hybrid variant, affectionately referred to as the P H E V, which promises power outputs ranging from a respectable 201 to an impressive 268 horsepower, while also delivering an electric range of up to an astonishing 75 miles. Furthermore, these revolutionary eHybrid models will introduce expedited AC charging and will come equipped with standard DC charging capabilities. In keeping with tradition, the Tiguan will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, catering to a wide range of driving preferences.

An additional aspect that demands our attention is the evolution of the Dynamic Chassis Control system, which has undergone a remarkable transformation. The latest iteration, known as the DCC Pro, will be available as an optional feature and will incorporate two-valve shock absorbers that react with impressive speed, enhancing ride comfort to unprecedented levels. This groundbreaking advancement will undoubtedly contribute to heightened stability when traversing treacherous, slippery surfaces, as well as a considerable reduction in vibrations. The end result? A remarkably smooth and comfortable driving experience, even when navigating uneven and bumpy roads.

As we peer into the horizon and contemplate the future, Volkswagen has boldly set a target to discontinue the sale of combustion engine-powered vehicles in Europe by the year 2033. It stands to reason, then, that this forthcoming generation of the Tiguan will likely be the last of its kind to feature internal combustion engines in the European market. The winds of change are blowing, and the automotive industry is adapting to embrace a greener and more sustainable future. So, let us savor this remarkable transformation and eagerly anticipate the arrival of the third-generation Tiguan, as it ushers in a new era of automotive excellence.
