Shame follows people who deal with anxiety right into each conversation they have with others.
1. Use the echo technique (repeat a few focus words back to them) (the ultimate rapport builder).
2. Speak more than usual. Avoid yes or no answers.
3. Offer a simple compliment.
4. Strengthen your posture (slipping causes muscle tension which will activate the fight or flight).
5. Listen intently rather than looking to edit everything your mind is spewing out.
Remember, you’ve got parts to you you’ve neglected and parts that have been playing out in your actions more often recently. You get to choose which parts of you you want to express and bring forth to the conversion and you don’t have to be the same anxious person you were yesterday.
