Is the 2023 Mercedes GLB 250 Worth the Price? Full Review and Test Drive | Luxury Compact Family SUV
Welcome to my in-depth review of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 SUV. Is it worth the price? This vehicle combines luxury, performance, and technology to create the ultimate driving experience (at least it tries to). TLDR: decent interior (but kind of a scam because you have to pay for optional things like heated front seats and 10.25 inch screen to make it nice). Drives like a eh-handling SUV with weird brake feel according to my partner, who drove it for the past few weeks.
Starting with the exterior, the GLB 250 boasts a sleek, grown-up, stylish enough design that tries to catch your eye. Its boxy shape gives it a unique look that sets it apart from other SUVs in its class. Inside, the cabin is spacious and sophisticated, with premium materials and advanced features that will make you feel like royalty. You can seat up to seven passengers with the optional third row, which I recommend you only fit children or really small adults in the third row.
Under the hood, the GLB 250 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth and precise shifts during acceleration (watch to find out about braking/slowing down). The base GLB 250 does not feature all-wheel drive (which enhances traction and stability in all driving conditions), you'd have to upgrade the trim level to the 4MATIC or the AMG GLB 35 to get all-wheel drive.
The GLB 250 is also packed with advanced safety features, including Active Brake Assist (automatic emergency braking), Adaptive braking technology, Antilock Braking System (ABS), Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist, and cruise control. It also comes with a host of cutting-edge technologies, such as a 10.25-inch infotainment display (with the optional premium package) and gauge cluster that's very customizable, voice recognition, and smartphone integration such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Overall, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 is an exceptional SUV that delivers on many levels (if you can spend extra money to get optional features), with some limits.
If you're in the market for a top-of-the-line SUV, the GLB 250 should be on your list if you have cash on hand, and don't mind the body roll. So, what are you waiting for? Watch my full review to learn more about this vehicle and see why it's a game-changer (spoiler: the base price is relatively low) in the luxury SUV market. Some of the competitors of the GLB 250 are the Volvo XC60, Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo S90, Lexus NX, Audi Q5, Lexus ES, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, BMW 5-Series, etc.
