Today I’m taking one of the worlds most luxurious First Class cruises, for 5 days to the Caribbean. Join me in the very best suite onboard, dubbed the Mega Rockstar Massive Suite.
As always I’ll give you a comprehensive review of the experience, from the food on offer, the onboard facilities such as the luxurious spa, the pools & our private hot tub. My aim is to see if this really is the luxury cruise line which it’s been touted as, and if this is a true luxurious experience. I’d also like to benchmark this against other experiences, such as the Orient Express, Rovos Rail or even Queen Mary 2 trips which I’ve taken over the last few months.
I already expect this to be a more informal approach to luxury, but will the best suite onboard live up to expectations. Oh and talking of our suite, this features, a bedroom, living room, Italian marble bathroom, music studio and the largest balcony / terrace you’ve seen at sea. This really is like a floating 5* hotel.

Today I’m taking the world’s most luxurious river cruise for 72 hours from Budapest to Vienna. This is the Riverside Mozart and I’ll show you exactly what it’s like onboard. When I first visited Manila seven years ago, I travelled there by budget airline and stayed in a cheap area of the city.
This time I opted for the luxury Manila experience. I flew there by business class and stayed in Makati, a very modern area of the city, in a 5 star hotel.
Before booking my flight ticket, I made sure to check that the aircraft I was flying on would have a lie-flat seat. Not every business class ticket with Thai Airways or Philippines Airlines between Bangkok and Manila guarantees you this type of seat. Some aircraft just have the wider regular seats. In that case it wouldn't be worth the cost of a business class ticket.
The airport experience with Thai Airways, flying from BKK, was a smooth one. As Suvarnabhumi Airport is the main hub airport for Thai, they are able to provide fast track immigration and security for business and first class passengers. So that took just a few minutes.
The Royal Silk lounge was very nice, clean, spacious and the food was awesome. It was also right next to the gate for my flight, which I could see through the lounge window. That meant I was able to wait until I saw the flight was boarding before leaving the comfort of the lounge.
The business class seating arrangement on the 787-900 Dreamliner was my favourite type, the "herringbone." With this type of arrangement, if you are flying solo then you can have a single seat with no neighbour next to you.
The food onboard was very good. I enjoyed a tasty Thai beef green curry and lemon meringue.
Immigration at Manila airport was smooth. Only a few minutes queuing and no cost for the visa. Compare that to when I flew to Jakarta, Indonesia and had to wait 2 hours and pay $35 for visa to enter the country. I feel grateful that Philippines makes it easy for tourists to visit their country.
I picked up a local SIM card at the airport, which wasn't cheap at $30. I'm sure I could have gotten one much cheaper in the city but it's always less hassle to get the SIM card at the airport. I've wasted whole days in that past when travelling to Pakistan, Indonesia and Turkey trying to get a SIM card in the city, as most shops there are unable to register a foreigner.
There is a pickup point for Grab cars right outside arrivals at Manila Airport. Very convenient. No need to bargain or deal with scammy taxi touts.
I stayed at Somerset Central Salcedo Makati hotel, costing $130 per night. A bit expensive but hotels in Manila are pricy compared to other cities in South East Asia.
My room had a small kitchen area with washer/dryer, so that's something I usually don't have and was much appreciated. The gym and swimming pool were awesome. The location was perfect, next to a park and walking distance to a few nice malls.
I couldn't find much to complain about at this hotel, other than the in-room safe was too small to fit a normal sized laptop.
I visited Greenbelt, a fancy mall with several sections spread around a big garden area. I was there looking for Filipino food, but went on a side mission to have an AI chair massage.
I see these massage chairs in malls quite often, where you can insert some money and have a relaxing massage for 15 minutes or so, to take a break from your shopping adventure. This place was a shop that was actually selling the chairs for people to put in their own home. I got to try out their best model, and I loved the experience. I'd definitely buy one if I had somewhere to put it.
Feeling relaxed, I visited a Filipino restaurant in the mall to enjoy some Pinoy cuisine. The mall had mostly international restaurants like Italian, Chinese and Japanese but I had to try Pinoy Food for my first day in the Philippines.
I was specifically looking for Sisig and this restaurant had it. Sisig is a well seasoned dish made from chopped pork jowls, ears and belly, and chicken liver.
From one fancy mall to another. I took a Grab from Makati to Bonifacio Global City to visit the Venice Grand Canal Mall, to enjoy a Gondola ride and some Pinoy desserts.
Again, most of the restaurants there were international, but they did have a branch of the famous Filipino fast food restaurant, Jollibee. So I enjoyed a Jollibee Peach Mango pie with Mango Graham Ice Cream to end my day on a sweet note.

Justice Clarence Thomas said in a statement Friday that he did not disclose luxury travel paid for by a Republican donor because he was advised at the time that he did not have to report it.
In a rare statement sent via the Supreme Court’s public information office, Thomas said that the trips he and his wife, conservative activist Ginni Thomas, took with the donor Harlan Crow and his wife – whom Thomas describes as among his family’s “dearest friends” – were the “sort of personal hospitality from close personal friends” that he was advised did not require disclosure.

Today I’m taking The Venice Simplon Orient Express in a Grand Suite, all the way to Venice, passing through three countries. This is not only the world’s most iconic, but arguably the most luxurious sleeper train. I have the grand suite today, which features an ensuite bathroom with shower, living space, dining table and double bed. There are three restaurants onboard and even a lounge car with baby grand piano. It’s like the very best 5* hotel on the rails.
Belmond runs all kinds of trains, but this one has been on my list for a long time. I feel incredibly fortunate I was able to get an upgrade to a suite which I’d never in a million years get the chance to travel in with cash. So how did I book this?

Today I'm taking The Canadian sleeper train for 97 hours across the North American continent from Toronto all the way to Vancouver on the Pacific coastline. I'll be travelling in Prestige class which is the most luxurious First Class sleeper cabin offered by Via rail but the excitement only starts with my ensuite bedroom. I rode in a deluxe room on the Sunrise Express sleeper train this time.
It is about a 12-hour trip from Tokyo to Izumo in Shimane Prefecture.
The deluxe room was very comfortable, and I was able to see beautiful Japanese scenery from the train window. Since it was the cherry blossom season, I was also able to enjoy cherry blossoms from the window.

Today I’m taking one of the world’s most luxurious cruises for 5 days across the Caribbean. This is the long awaited Ritz Carlton Yacht, Evrima. Scheduled to launch in 2020, this was pushed back around 8 times until finally last October she was launched. I’ve experienced a few luxury cruises now, but this was different. With far fewer passengers, the level of staffing should be an unparalleled experience onboard.
I'll show you the entire experience from boarding in Florida, touring my suite along with the most luxurious "Owners Suite" onboard. We'll check out the dining, explore the marina and fully emerce ourselves in the world of Ritz Carlton.

Aman Kyoto does not disclose the access information, but it is basic to visit by taxi. If you take a taxi from Kyoto Station, it will cost around 5000 JPY (35 USD).
The nearest stations are Kitayama, Kitaoji, and Kitano Hakubaicho, but it takes about 50 minutes on foot from there.
The nearest bus stop is around Kinkakuji-michi. It takes 25 minutes on foot from Kinkakuji-michi to Aman Kyoto. It might be a good idea to take a bus to the area around Kinkakuji and pick up a taxi from there.

Even though it's more oriented for family with children, it will perfectly accomodate couples who just want to enjoy their honeymoon thanks to the best privacy we've ever seen (be it in the Overwater or Beach villas). Food is great and all infrastructures also are. One&Only Reethi Rah is really a recommandable resort that you could visit and deserves to be among the best resorts in the Maldives for 2022.

Vakkaru is maybe the less "prestigious" resorts of our top 5 but it offers an amazing quality price ratio and everything was great during our stay there. Service, food, villa, island, snorkeling, spa, everything is very high standard and its location within Baa Atoll (a Unesco Biosphere reserve) enables you to go and enjoy snorkeling with Manta Rays which was one of the best experience we ever had. If you're looking for the best luxury resorts in the Maldives, Vakkaru can be a very good match.

🥉 The Nautilus
If you have done your research about the Maldives, you can't have missed The Nautilus. Indeed, it is very often referred to as one of the best resorts in the Maldives, and very likely the most exclusive one. With only 26 villas and only 11 overwater, The Nautilus offers a special experience to its guests who are looking for top-level service. The food was the best we ever had in any resorts in the Maldives, the villas are huge and extremely comfortable, the service is excellent and so was the Spa. Only drawback was the island itself with big seawalls all around. Yet, if you don't mind having seawalls around, Nautilus might well be the best resort in the Maldives for you !

In number 2 of our top 5 best resorts in the Maldives selection for 2022, you'll find Gili Lankanfushi. This 5* luxury resort offers everything you can look for when booking your vacation. The villas are insane, the island is beautiful, the service is the best we've ever had, the food was delicious and its proximity to Male make it super easy to access. The only weakness we could spot was the lack of snorkeling but everything else is so incredible that you can forget it..a bit ;) Gili Lankanfushi is really a resort we loved and totally deserves its #2 position among the best hotels in the Maldives for 2022.

Finally, we have Milaidhoo as the winner of this top 5 resorts in the Maldives. Milaidhoo is the perfect place for couples as it does not allow children below 9. This creates a special atmosphere where you can truly relax and enjoy the beauty of this island. As you can assume, the service, food, villas, snorkeling, everything was just EXCELLENT and we could not find a single flaw to this resort where we would happily have stayed longer.
